From 26 June to 30 September 2025, the Hôtel du Donjon is hosting a photographic exhibition by Christian BénardThe artist from Carcassonne is passionate about images and photography.
Christian Bénard
A photographer since the 1980s, he started out with film photography before travelling the world. Madagascar, Tanzania, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand were just some of the destinations that enabled him to put on several exhibitions in 2014, capturing portraits, scenes of life and moments of everyday life.
Christian Bénard also enjoys photographing the heritage and nature that surround him, hence his exhibition "Éclats de fleurs, Échos du passé", which will be an opportunity for him to show you, through his eyes, the combination of the two.
The exhibition
The "Éclats de fleurs Échos du passé" exhibition brings together two of Christian Bénard's photographs: one of the Cité de Carcassonne and its surroundings, the other of flowers and landscapes.
By comparing these images, the artist will seek to bring out visual correspondences, discreet resonances between nature and architecture.
His photographs, all treated differently in colour and black and white, leave room for observation and interpretation. They invite us to take a look at familiar, sometimes neglected, elements of the plant world or built heritage.
